SEA dispatches rival SBA; registers its fourth win

11111111111116839632_120300002230174597_583879046_n11111111The School of Engineering and Architecture Men’s Volleyball Team (SEAMVT) goes back to the winning column after defeating a feisty SBA squad in three grueling sets, 26-24, 23-25, and 15-12 to continue their back-to-back championship campaign.

After a lack-luster performance against College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM), the Lion Spikers seemed to look focused and eager to bounce back. But the fire in their eyes was too hot making them commit a lot of errors in the early part of first set especially in the service area.

The Dolphins took advantage of these free gifts from the Lions by building a 24 to 21 lead. Riding on their championship experience, the Lions pulled-off a run via their loaded serves and eventually got the very important first set.

After a morale-booster set, the orange shirts continued to dominate, strengthening their net and floor defense while throwing some dagger looks. However, the yellow side fought for their pride and denied the run of their rivals with their keen attacks to snatch the second set.

Entering the court with a sense of urgency, the defending champions composed themselves and minimized their service errors to create an early 8 to 4 lead in the deciding set. The Dolphins attempted a late comeback-run but it was ended by an error of their own, relinquishing the win to Lions.

Jireh Lacson, a former high-school varsity standout, top-scored everybody. Waxing hot with 12 points coming from 9 attacks and 3 service aces.

The Lions seize solo second spot with a 4-1 win loss card and will face College of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences (CNAMS) spikers next week.
